Add Chess.com Companion from the Chrome Web Store. It only activates on chess.com pages.

Opening theory highlighting on the board Free
In analysis mode, if the game follows a known theory line, the extension highlights the square of the next move directly on the board, in the same style as chess.com's native highlighting. It all runs on a real opening database bundled locally (ECO codes A through E, derived from the open source project lichess-org/chess-openings): no network calls, no data sent to a third party.

Frequently asked questions
How does the new Review tab work?
Open a finished game's analysis on chess.com or choose one of your 10 recent games in Review. Stockfish 19 runs locally in your browser and shows accuracy, an evaluation graph and move classifications. Select a move to explore the engine's preferred lines. The free plan includes 3 reviews in a rolling 24-hour window; Pro includes unlimited reviews.
Does analysis run during a live game?
No. Game Review runs on finished games and analysis boards. The engine never starts during a live game, and move suggestions are only shown in analysis. During play, Companion displays public player statistics.
Is my chess.com data sent to your server?
Player statistics come directly from chess.com's public API, queried by your browser, and Stockfish analysis runs locally. Our server uses an anonymous installation identifier to check subscription status and records search and review usage timestamps to manage free limits. It does not receive the games or analysis results.
How does the Pro subscription work?
The Pro subscription (monthly or annual) unlocks unlimited game reviews and the advanced Search tab. Payment is handled by Stripe, no banking data ever passes through the extension. You can manage or cancel it at any time from the side panel.
Does the extension work on sites other than chess.com?
No, it only activates on www.chess.com pages and requests no permissions on any other sites you visit.
